Intro
Psylocke is one of the most popular Heroes in Marvel Rivals due to her very fun and rewarding gameplay. She is not the easiest Hero to pick up as a beginner, but in return, her DPS potential can be insanely high.
In this video, we will discuss everything about her skill combos and some general strategy tips.
Her playstyle is mainly focused on breaking into the enemy backline and assassinating high-value targets such as healers and other DPS. In contrast to that, her DPS is so high that she can also nuke enemy tanks if they are out of position.
As for her abilities, there are some details that you might want to know if you are planning to make her your main.
Abilities
Normal Attack
Her normal attack fires 4 bullets twice, each dealing 12 damage. This adds up to 48 damage per shot and 94 damage per click.
The damage falloff begins at 15 meters and decreases to 60% at 30 meters, meaning she is meant to be fighting at close range. Also, her normal attacks can critically hit for 150% of their normal damage if you land headshots. Finally, each bullet will reduce your ability cooldowns by 0.25 seconds, meaning you get 1 second cooldown for a full shot and 2 seconds cooldown per click.
First Ability: Wind Shuriken
This ability will fire 5 projectiles, each dealing 8 damage. On recast, those 5 projectiles will first travel to your aim location and then return back to you, dealing an additional 14 damage per bullet to all enemies in their path.
Its damage falloff is even bigger than normal attacks, starting again at 15 meters and decreasing to 80% at 25 meters. This means you are supposed to use this ability in close quarters. Additionally, each projectile landed on an enemy will increase your HP by 10, for a maximum of 75 bonus HP.
Shift Ability: Psi-Blade Dash
Psi-Blade Dash is a forward dashing ability that can also be used vertically to climb any surface. It has 2 charges with an 8-second cooldown and damages any enemy you pass through for 50 damage. Casting this ability will also return your Wind Shurikens back to you.
However, they will now first travel to the location you were standing before the dash and then back to you.
Example: Here, I am leaving Wind Shurikens next to this dummy, and they will hit it because they will first travel to where I stand right now.
Third Ability: Psychic Stealth
Psychic Stealth will grant invisibility for 3 seconds, plus 50% movement speed, and has a 15-second cooldown. If enemies land hits on you while you are invisible, you will become briefly visible to them.
Ultimate Ability: Dance of the Butterfly
This ability will slash any enemy in a 10-meter radius for the next 4 seconds. Each slash will do 150 damage, and she will perform 2 slashes per second, for a total of 8 slashes.
The priority for slashing is based on who has been hit the least. Psylocke is vulnerable while casting her Ultimate and can be interrupted or killed before starting her dance.
To avoid that, there are certain combos you can use, but let’s start from the beginning.
Combos
The most basic combo that you will use is to apply Wind Shurikens between normal attacks.
You can either use it for maximum DPS once every 2 normal shots to completely eliminate the interval time between shots, or simply hold down your normal attack button and double-tap it as soon as your first or second hit lands. Either way, there is no reason to ever release your normal attack button—you can just spam Shurikens, and they will overlap normal attacks.
Dash Combo
Next in line is your dashing ability. As I’ve mentioned, your dashes will deal 50 damage to every enemy you pass through. It might seem small, but you will be surprised how often you use it to eliminate your targets.
Team-Up Combo with Magic
The next combo will be available if you have Magic on your team. Magic will unlock Psylocke’s team-up ability to rewind time, returning her to where she was 5 seconds ago and restoring 50% of the HP she lost during those 5 seconds.
With this extra skill, you will be able to close in on enemies for an assassination attempt and return back to where you began if things go south. This ability has a 30-second cooldown.
Invisibility Usage
As for your invisibility, if you don’t have Psylocke’s extra ability, it’s up to you to decide if you want to use it to sneak up on the enemy backline or escape after a successful assassination.
Ultimate Combo Tip
A great tip to help you land your Ultimate without getting killed or interrupted is to first use a Vertical Dash plus Invisibility and activate it mid-air.
Strategy
Your job as an assassin is to flank the enemy healers or ranged DPS. This means you are not there to tank fights or go in first. You have to choose your fights and try to land a precise combo while enemies are distracted.
Killing the enemy healer will be much more profitable for your team than spreading some damage at opponents from afar and risking being one-shot by ranged DPS.
That said, there will be times when you can poke enemies from the flanks, helping you gather your Ultimate faster. In general, however, you want to remain hidden and strike when it matters.
Your double dash and stealth provide a great escape even after a failed assassination attempt. If you manage to lure more than 2 opponents away from the objective to chase you, it will be a good enough play for your team.
I will mention once again that your damage output can be insanely high, and you are able to burst down tanks, especially if you aim for their heads.
In general, you should not be afraid of anyone in a 1 versus 1 scenario. While dueling, using your dashes offensively to deal damage and confuse opponents is something that not a lot of Heroes can do in Marvel Rivals, so take advantage of that.
Finally, try to save your Ultimate for important objective moments since it will drive everyone away. Avoid using it while enemy healers have their cooldowns ready, as most of them will counter you completely.
