Easy Build Orders for Zeus and the Greek Gods in Age of Mythology: Retold
Hello guys, this is going to be a very easy-to-remember build order for Zeus and every other Greek god in Age of Mythology: Retold.
In the first part, we’ll see how to quickly advance to the second age. In the second part, we’ll look at two different strategy variations you can choose to follow after that.
The first variation will focus on creating an early army, and the second will focus on rushing for a second Town Center.
So, let’s jump right into it.
Advancing to the Second Age
When the game starts, you’ll need to make three very quick and precise moves:
Select your villagers and send them to hunt.
Choose one of those villagers and send them to gather wood.
At the same time, turn on the auto-villager queue at your Town Center.
The first two villagers will go to gold, and after that, we’ll have six villagers in a row going to food.
Sending six villagers in a row to the same resource is the first thing that makes this build so beginner-friendly—because you don’t have to do much macro management at all.
During this time, you can scout the map to see where the gold mines are located and maybe gather some sheep. If you don’t feel like scouting, you can just stay at your base and wait until you’ve gathered 150 wood and 150 gold to build your Temple.
Once you have the necessary resources, take one of your gold villagers and build your Temple. If your timing is correct, right before the Temple is complete, you’ll be able to build a house with the same villager. After that, send them back to gold.
(Tip: you can queue these actions by holding Shift.)
When you reach a total of nine villagers on hunting, the next two villagers will go to gold. By the time the second one is trained—maybe even a little before—you should have enough food to advance to the next age.
Strategy Variation 1: Early Army
The moment you reach 400 food and start advancing to the next age, having nine villagers on food will no longer be necessary.
For the first strategy, we’ll prepare our resources so we’re ready to build barracks and train Hoplites the moment we hit the second age.
To do this, send at least two of your food workers to wood so we have enough to build the barracks and some houses. The rest can keep working on food and gold, since Hoplites require both to recruit.
If you want to create some Minotaurs as well, you can spare one of your gold villagers and send them to gather favor at your Temple.
Once you reach the second age, drop down some barracks and start recruiting units.
By around the five-minute mark, you should have:
5 Hoplites
2 Heroes
1 Minotaur
At this point, you want to take advantage of your early army and go after your enemy’s villagers. If you just let your army sit and don’t attack, other strategies that ignore military units at first and focus entirely on the economy will eventually outscale you.
Strategy Variation 2: Fast Second Town Center
For our second scenario, we do the exact same thing until we hit the “Advance” button. The only difference is that this time, we’ll need to have 350 wood and 350 gold ready so we can build a second Town Center immediately after reaching the second age.
To do that, we’ll move 6 food villagers to wood and 1 food villager to gold. That means we want to end up with:
2 on food
7 on wood
5 on gold
A few seconds after reaching the second age, you should have the resources for your second Town Center.
We want to use gold villagers to build it, but in this case, they’re too far away. So instead, we’ll take 5 wood villagers to construct the Town Center, then transfer 1 gold villager to wood and 2 gold villagers to food.
From here, all incoming villagers should pretty much go to food—because having two Town Centers means your food supply will drop very quickly.
